Vinh Phat used to be located in a tiny little space on Hughes Street (near the corner of Park Road) and was known for its famous red curtains. It has since moved across the road to a much bigger and spacious location (formerly Retra Vision). Despite the move and the quadruple increase in restaurant space, the lines continue to queue down the stair case and even out the doors during lunch peak hour.
Dim Sum? Yum Cha? Same thing, right? Which ever you like to call it, there are so many places out there and everybody has different favourites. I have been eating yum cha (yes this is how I know it to be) for as long as I can remember. It’s the perfect meal to share with family, and with my family being ever so big, it’s always a great way to catch up over good food.
Mr Wong is a new venture by the Merivale team led by Executive Chef Dan Hong, Head Chef Jowette Yu and Head Dim Sum Chef Eric Koh. It is the new kid on the block offering modern Cantonese-Chinese food, ranging from your dim sum (or yum cha) to roasted meats to chinese influenced main dishes.
