There is an emphasis on all meals being made fresh to order at affordable prices. The menu is quite extensive so it was a tough choice trying to figure out what to order.
6 Wings (with chipotle bbq sauce) $9
We’re sensible and only order a basket of 6 wings which are slow cooked and smoked for 5 hours with our choice of the chiptole bbq sauce. The juicy meat fell off the bone with so little effort. Our chipotle sauce had a rating of 3 chillis, and after a while it really hit me. My chilli tolerance is pretty high but my lips were burning.. I have some crazy fettish for a chilli hit!
Pastrami Reuben Sandwich $10
This cold meat sandwich was seen only on the menu in store. Pastrami is served with sauerkraut, cheese and coleslaw on toasted rye. It was a light yet generously filled sandwich and slightly different to the ones I’ve had in Hawaii and at Momo Brasserie.
Beef Brisket Burger $8.50 + Combo w/ curly fries, corn and drink $14
The beef brisket is slow cooked for 18 hours and served in a burger bun with coleslaw, cheese and ranch sauce
The cubed brisket was just out of this world. It was so tender that it was melting in my mouth with minimal chewing. Oh it was just fabulous.
Pulled Pork Sub $8.50 + Combo w/ curly fries, corn and drink $14
The pulled pork is slow cooked for 17 hours and smoked for 4 hours. It wasn’t “pulled” pork per se but rather it is cubed.
Pulled or cubed, it didn’t matter, because that pork was so damn tasty and succulent. It paired so well with the cheese sauce (who doesn’t love american cheese sauce?) and the warm sweet bun was so fluffy with a very fine crisp on the outside. Amaze-friggen-balls. It was our favourite of the lot (by a smidgen).
Our Dinner for 2
Memphis Wings have definitely utilized the southern smoked barbeque very well, with all the meat being so flavoursome yet so incredibly tender. Job well done to the Memphis Wings team.
No doubt we will make the return. We’ve got our eyes on the philly cheese steak and full rack of ribs. Watch out, we’re coming for you!
It didn’t take us long to make the return to try some other things on the menu…
My weakness – hot chips covered in cheese sauce and topped with a dollop of sour cream and bacon bits. There’s never enough cheese sauce…
Big Daddy Philly Cheese Sub $10.50
Marinated thin slices of steak together with grilled onion, roasted capsicum, mushrooms smothered in a cheese sauce lay in a toasted soft bun, much like the pulled pork sub above. Now this brought back great memories of the USA and it’s the best we’ve had in Sydney so far. The flavours are spot on and there’s plenty of cheese to make it live up to it’s name!
Big Daddy Ribs $42
Dry rubbed and slow cooked for 20 hours, smoked using a mix of hickory mesquite and apple. This was a huge slab of ribs which generously fed the both of us and we polished it off, no problems. The meat fell off the bone with ease – now that’s when you know it’s some mighty good ribs. We loved the unique smokey bbq flavour it had, it’s definitely their own special blend, and one that kept you going in for more.
In a span of 8 days we made 2 visits and tried all that appealed to us. We couldn’t have been happier with our choices at Memphis Wings because on both occasions we walked out with our bellies full and happy!
