Parlour Lane Roasters is located right in the heart of the city on Market Street, next to the State Theatre (opposite the Swiss Hotel). By day it is a cafe; by evening and into the night it operates as a wine bar. It’s the perfect location for a coffee run before work or a quick cafe lunch drop in or a drink after a hard day at work.
I found the funky bar stools to be so quirky yet a bit creepy at the same time.
Front: Chocolate Milkshake $5.50
Back: Banana & Honey Smoothie $6.50
I haven’t had a milkshake in ages and it tasted so good, but it was huge!
Parlour Chicken Burger $12
Free range chicken, rocket pesto and tomato served on a lightly toasted brioche bun and a side of iceberg salad and basil. The ‘salad’ of lettuce was a wedge of a lettuce head on the side giving you the option to either include/exclude it from your burger as you please.
Apologies for the poor cross section, but can see how fluffy the brioche is (from Sanoma), and how juicy the chicken was – gotta love free range chicken! I really liked the pesto but I wish it had a bit more of a punch. Glad there wasn’t any lettuce in this burger =P
Parlour Beef Burger $12
Pasture fed beef pattie with fried onions, american cheese on a brioche bun served with a side of house made pickle and shoestring fries
Clean cut and layers to be seen! It was a pretty tasty burger (I swear that brioche rocks) though I think the beef patty was a little dry, but it did have enough flavour to be forgiven.
Both burgers were good and we walked out quite satisfied – not feeling too heavy or overly full. My next visit will see me dropping in for breakfast and/or coffee, or for the reuben roll and chicken salad (which I hear is delicious).
Check out I’m Still Hungry’s post for a breakfast visit
