We didn’t expect for our last meal in Hawaii to be at a sports bar with new york deli style sandwiches and cocktails but it ended up being one of the best meals we had (suprisingly).
After some late afternoon and last minute shopping we see this sports bar just around the corner from our hotel. It’s a done deal once we see pastrami sandwiches are on the menu.
A casual and tourist filled sports bar that got crowded very quickly (just in time for some football games!)
I needed one more lava flow before the holiday ended…
Spicy Buffalo Wings $12 USD
Flavoursome and spicy wingettes are served with tangy and well balanced blue cheese dressing. The spice sure lingered on the tongue and lips but the blue cheese dressing helped ease the pain, opening the window of opportunity to grab another wing.
Giovanni Mini BBQ Brisket Slides $13 USD
A soft bun is filled with a huge sliver of bbq brisket. Sadly this was just mediocre – the brisket wasn’t tender and the bbq sauce was nothing out of the ordinary.
Greek Salad $10 USD
Leaves to break up the meat overload.
Pastrami Reuben $16 USD
Hot pastrami with swiss cheese, sauerkraut and russian dressing served on grilled rye bread with a side of french fries
OH. MY. WORD. The best reuben sandwich I’ve ever eaten!!! Look at the mound of the pastrami – this is the stairway to heaven.
The smokey and melt-in-your-mouth pastrami works so well with the tart sauerkraut and russian dressing. An unbelievable concoction that we sure don’t get enough of here (although check out He Needs Food on his reuben search around Sydney).
What a way to end our vacation. I loved the cool and calm nature of our stay in Hawaii and the fact that nothing really was set in stone. We ventured wherever we wanted to whenever it pleased us. Now that’s what you call a holiday.
I still dream of that pastrami reuben sandwich…. and I hope we can reunite some day soon <3
