It’s not often the group of friends and I chill out at a bar, nibbling on some food and downing a few drinks. I suppose you could say it’s because of our location that the trek to the city does become a burden, especially with those who have to be designated drivers for the evening. But this is an exception as we are celebrating the boy’s birthday.
All he wanted was just somewhere for us dress up a little, hang out somewhere different from the norm for us and make the most of happy hour!
Wild Berry Rekordelig & Vodka OJ
I find myself cooling down in the Autumn heat with a couple drinks even though I generally don’t drink.
Group Hug (Shares 4) $22
What a name for a cocktail, and I think this is what made D order it. Zubrovka Bison Grass vodka, apple juice, soothing chamomile, fresh mint and lemon stirred in a carafe and lengthened with lemonade. A simple and refreshing drink… for the boys….. haha
Arancini with fried parsley and aioli $12 *
I didn’t have any of these but the boys said they were good. They were still “runny” in the middle (I think they meant oozey) and wasn’t dry.
Calamari fritti with rocket and chilli mayo $18 *
The calamari was lighlty battered and well seasoned. That chilli mayo really paired well, it wasn’t too overpowering but it was lovely and creamy.
Sweet Potato Chips with paprika lemon salt and roast garlic aioli $9 *
I may have eaten a whole bowl of these to myself. Can you blame me? These crunchy, perfectly seasoned sweet potato chips were to die for! Whether you wanted to dip the chips in the garlic aioli or not (which is delicious by the way), the chips were amazing on its own. It’s a win-win situation.
Fries with roast garlic mayo $8 *
It’s too hard to resist shoe string fries. The roasted garlic mayo dissappeared before the chips did. I’ll happpily give up the ketchup for more garlic mayo. Mmm.
Pizza Salami, tomato, sopressa salami, mozzarella, ricotta $19 *
We order something a bit more substantial and easier to share amongs the group. This was one of many ordered on the night and they went like hot cakes. Simple but tasty. They’re boys, they eat anything that tastes good.
Items marked with * are bar menu items which are available from 3 to 6pm and after 10pm
Tuscan style cured meats served with home made pickled vegetables and bread $19
On the other end of the table, a few of the girls shared a cured meats spread. It’s funny how your fingers just keep going for more and feeding the mouth even though the mouths keep yapping on.
Happy Hour $5 Pints
This is how the afternoon begun, and how the night ended. The boy couldn’t be happier!
HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE! Cheers to the freakin’ weekend.. I’ll cheers to that, yeah YEAH!!! (thanks Rhianna)
