I’ve never been a fan of buffet places because I can never seem to eat my money’s worth! As I am holidays, I let loose and want to eat anything and everything. One of my cousins is a big fan of Korean BBQ so he organises a dinner for us Aussie tourists. It probably wasn’t the best idea with a wedding a few days later, but nonetheless we go anyways.
Moodaepo II (II as it is the second branch) is located in Koreatown – yes, LA have neighbourhoods named after specific origins, more so than most other countries.
A well lit and rather modern interior makes us tourists very excited. Korean BBQ back at Sydney does not look anything remotely like this.
The table is all set up for you even with dipping sauce – what great service!
Yep you see right, that’s all it costs for all you can eat and includes ALL that meat – $19.99 USD for 25 different types! A friggen bargain, I’ll say.
Complimentary sides – that spring onion pancake was my favourite (bottom right)
More sides and a salad.
Note: there will be images of raw meats below, so feel free to read on or look away. It’s not always a pretty sight..
An array of short ribs, brisket and shrimp (what we call prawns). The wait staff slice the meat to order to ensure freshness. Definitely a thumbs up for me. You don’t want to know how much food we actually ordered. It scares me to even think about it haha.
Our table barely had any free space for anything!
Steamed egg. I have to say this was the FIRST time I had it and I was amazed, though that thing sure does get really, really hot! So hot it burnt my tongue =(
Of course the boys have to order this beer tube thing. Love how it came with its own tap!
We ate until we rolled out of the restaurant, and for some, ate ’til we had stomach aches because we ate that much. With a price tag of $19.99 per person and fresh meats, it really is amazing value. The Boy and I wish we had such an offer back at home.
If you ever get the chance to drop by, you absolutely should. Be prepared and arrive with an empty stomach; probably don’t even eat lunch so as to eat all you can here, literally!
