After my second trip to San Fran, we head back to LA to spend the week with family before the big wedding. We get picked up from LAX and head to Santa Monica to meet up with the rest of the gang for some nibblies.

They also have 60+ HD tvs that cover every sport. You can even request to change the channel to your liking. Just incredible.
Famous Chili Sampler $11.50 USD
Chili, to Americans, is known as chili con carne which is essentially a spicy stew with chili peppers as the main ingredient. This sampler has an array of chilis – the classic, texas, turkey, fireman’s and veggie served with corn chips, cheese, sour cream and onions. I love the fact that all the dips had bags of flavour in its own special way. A great starter to share amongst the table
Nacho Mama’s Nacho’s $ 11.25 USD
Now this is how nachos should be served all the time – Americans do it so well! A generous mound of fresh tortilla chips are layered with salsa, black beans, jack and cheddar cheese, topped with sour cream and guacamole. Great flavours all working a treat together.
Mushroom, Spinach and Cheese Potato Skins $8.25 USD
This is something that’s not seen in Sydney enough! The potato skins are beautifuly crunchy and filled with plenty of mushroom, spinach and lots of cheese. Oh these babies were my absolute favourite. Pity TWO potato skins were shared amongst 2 handfuls of people…… ridiculous.
15 Spicy chicken Wings – $15 USD
You can’t go to a sports bar type place and not order some chicken wings. It’s a staple. It’s a must. These spicy wings are served with celery and ranch dipping sauce. A tangy and spicy marinade had us all licking our fingers. We had to control ourselves as we were only having a “snack” so couldn’t order any more. So sad.
You can take your pick at what type of seating you’d like – there’s booths, there’s tables, there’s the bar. There’s also a few old school arcade games like raiden and street fighter, and a pool table. Definitely a great place to chill out and hang out.
After watching some (american) football and having some snacks, we take a stroll to the infamous Santa Monica Pier and spend the afternoon there. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky!
Santa Monica Beach
A picture perfect American summer’s day
Jacob came to meet us at the pier. Isn’t he just completely and utterly gorgeous? So glad he spent the afternoon with us, and you too Jenny (Jacob’s owner). xo
