Twelve Spices, Canley Heights

1 Feb

I love getting home from work when the sun is still out. Summer makes that real easy. It’s a gorgeous evening to be heading out and about for a week night dinner so we head somewhere local to make the most of the day light.

Twelve Spices

I should have taken a photo of the oh so pretty sunset. You can kind of see it through the reflection of the restaurant window.

Twelve Spices

The Boy and I have not been to Twelve Spices for at least 3-4 years. The transformation is a complete turnaround from what it was before (if only I had images to show) and we were very, very impressed.

Twelve Spices

It’s a Thursday night and the place is absolutely buzzing! Not an empty seat in sight.

Twelve Spices - Cute Jars

I have a thing for restaurants who serve drinks in jars. It’s just so cute and a great way of being resourceful.

Twelve Spices - Duck Salad

Duck Salad with green mango and apple $12.90

A salad full of crunch, vegetables, fruit, meat and a tangy dressing is a great way to start dinner. The plump duck pieces are boneless which always makes it more enjoyable to eat. The dressing is delicious and has the perfect balance of sweet, sour, salt and chilli. You can’t help but keep going in for more!

Twelve Spices - Ox Tongue

Grilled Ox Tongue $8.80

I can’t go to a Thai/Laos restaurant without ordering ox tongue. Caramelised outside, pink in the middle and a side of nam jim sauce? I couldn’t be happier.

Twelve Spices - Chicken Green Curry

Chicken Green Curry

An aromatic bowl of green curry is placed in front of us. The smell is just amazing from the coconut to the herbs and spices. It is full of fresh and vibrant veggies with a generous amount of chicken. It’s so very smooth and is a treat to eat. It is one of the better green curries I’ve had in the local area.

We couldn’t have asked for a better affordable, great tasting and relatively quick dinner. It’s such a shame we couldn’t try all the other things on the menu. Apparently they have a pandan fried ice cream for dessert. Now that, I have to go back for.

P.s this was an impromptu anniversary dinner back in early December. Happy Anniversary to my significant other. Love.

Oh my pandan fried icecream! That warrants a return to try, don’t you think? ;) Loving the look of that duck salad. Thai salads are really quite wonderful :) Happy belated anniversary by the way!

    Dear Tina,

I have not been to this place for like 10 years and what a transformation. I remember the food to be really good and at such honest prices too and looks like they have kept up the standard judging by the crowd of diners.

My favourite that I remember there was the deep fried chicken wings and a salad that is made from crunchy chicken feet :)

I think the price and food remains honest and to its true value. Definitely a place a can rely on :)

Happy Anniversary for way back then! ;) I love ox tongue and a crowd like this is definitely a hint that the food is good!

Absolutely. Did not expect a local restaurant to be so jam packed. I have to fight with everybody else for a table
      Now :p
