Quarter Twenty One, Sydney

4 Jul

For the month of June Westfield Sydney launched The Chefs Club, a Tuesday Night only special menu for $30 amongst (then six) now 7 participating restaurants in Westfield Sydney. Due to popular demand, it has now rolled over into July, and will continue indefinitely.

Not knowing how long The Chefs Club was going to go for I quickly go ahead and make a booking at Quarter Twenty One, another restaurant I’ve been wanting to dine at for a while.

Quarter Twenty One

I thought that the design of the restaurant was lovely – it had a warm vibe and was very inviting. And I loved how comfortable the chairs were, and the colour!

NOTE: Before the other photos roll in, I have to apologise for the extreme lack of quality and severe grainy-ness. Silly me forgot to bring a camera, any camera, so all photos are taken from my iPhone.

Quarter Twenty One - Wine

A glass of red or white is included in tonight’s Chef Club meal. We opt for the white. I have no idea what it was but it was a decent white wine to accompany our meal for the evening.

Quarter Twenty One - Salt Snapper Brandade with Avocado Puree, Fennel and Raddish

We start off with Salt Snapper Brandade with Avocado Puree, Fennel and Raddish. My food companion and I had no idea what we going to get. It was a pretty dish that suprised us with flavour and textures. The salted snapper was soft and pillow like, similar to perfectly cooked gnocci and the texture was offset by the fennel and raddish. A good clean dish to start off dinner.

Quarter Twenty One - Mediterranean Cassoulet

Our main for the evening is a Mediterranean Cassoulet. I’ve never had a casserole before so it was going to be interesting. It was a hearty dish might I say, with beans, slow cooked (almost braised) bits of meat – I say meat because I’m sure there was more than one type – and an awesome crumb on top! It definitely was the perfect cold winter’s night meal.

I must admit I was hoping for the suckling pig which was part of the Chefs Club menu for Q21 as seen here but oh well. That just goes to say don’t delay booking and make sure you get in quick next time :)

That’s a great cassoulet. I got a flyer for the Chef’s Club yesterday and the Quarter 21 deal looked fab, just like the meal you had.

I love brandade :) though I prefer to smear it on crisps or bread like a pate. Great value even if it wasn’t pork belly!

You’re right. It would taste better on a crisp or bread! I still wish I got the suckling pig though ahha :(

It is very sad. Glad I got the chance to go even if it wasn’t the best meal I’ve had.
