Circa Espresso, Parramatta

10 May

I got my act together and got myself to Circa Espresso. Wait, technically, my first visit was on ANZAC Day but silly me didn’t read Circa Espresso’s tweets advising that they were going to be closed for the day. I rocked up to this empty and locked up garage and was devastated. Anyway, so I finally got the chance to see what all the buzz was about!

Circa Espresso

It was a gorgeous Sunday and the boy and I drive locally to Parramatta for some food to put in our bellies. I knew that it was going to be busy, but not as busy as it was when we arrived! The place was filled with people. All seats had a butt on it and you know what? Everyone had a smile on their face. Circa must be doing something right!

Circa Espresso - Coffee

I start with a skim cap. This has honestly got to be one of the best coffees I have had. It’s got a real coffee flavour that just goes down so smoothly. Amazing.

Circa Espresso - Avocado and Fetta Cheese

Avocado on sourdough toast with sea salt, cracked petter, fetta cheese and herbs

While we were waiting for our table, we saw someone have this and it looked devine so no matter what we had ordered, this was going to be part of our order. As simple as it looks (and yes, you could so totally make this at home), it was beautiful. Bread was toasted so that it gave a crunch yet still retained its fluffiness on the inside, with creamy ripe avocado, that hint of sea salt, freshly cracked pepper and the tart fetta cheese. A perfect combination.

Circa Espresso - Egg and Bacon Roll

Sadly, I don’t know the exact name of this roll as the menu was taken off the site and for the fact that the Circa menu is changing every so often. From what I can recall, this roll included bacon, eggs, chargrilled capsicum and an aioli type sauce. It was a great breakfast roll but the boy could have gotten something a little less traditional.

Circa Espresso - House Baked Beans

House Baked Beans with chorizo, smoked hock & toast

I opt for the house baked beans! What a fantastic choice it was. The baked beans were so incredibly tasty – the chorizo and smoked hock definitely had a part to play. It had a gorgeous rich flavour which wasn’t too overwhelming. The piece of toast sure is hidden so I completely forgot about it when the dish came out, but it was definitely needed.

What an amazing feed this was. Great food, affordable prices and buzzing atmosphere. All factors that make a dining experience more enjoyable! There was one down side to my visit to Circa, I was upset that I didn’t get the baked eggs in the pan, which everyoneeeeee around me was getting. Not to worry, I know what I’m getting next time. Watch out Circa, I’m coming atcha!

The avo on toast with feta looks like my ideal brekkie! Since moving back to Syd I’ve been chowing down on avo on toast almost every morning!

Such joy in real housemade baked beans! Love the vibe at Circa, and that bacon and egg roll may be traditional but a good one is always worth it!

Circa is my coffee break escape (I work less than a block away) and the guys are so nice and friendly! Only downside is that it can get way crowded at lunchtime. I’ve taken so many photos there.

I envy that you work so close!

I keep trying to send more business their way but my workmates are undiscerning when it comes to where they get food/coffee. Then again, that means my circa visits are work-free zones.

Wonderful post – I love Circa. I’ve had the mushrooms on Turkish and baked eggs, and they were fan-friggin-tastic. Will have to try the bacon and egg roll, it looks too juicy to resist! And the coffee! Best coffee west of Balmain, methinks ;P

We should all try to go. Such a lovely little place! Coffee is just ridiculously good there
