HARVest Cafe, Bonnyrigg

16 Apr

Living out west means that brunch places are quite limited. Of course there’s always Cabramatta for your all sorts of Asian cuisines for any time of the day but sometimes, just sometimes, there’s the craving for some toast and eggs. It is really simple and worth it to make at home, but it’s also convenient to head out and order it to have it made for you. It was nice to have stumbled across something so close to home - we found this hidden gem in and amongst the Bonnyrigg Garden Centre. It’s gorgeous that the cafe is located in and has a garden surround – it really makes the atmosphere a pleasure to be in.

HARVest Cafe - Eggs Benedict

Eggs Benedict $13.5

It’s not the most perfect day to be outdoors but we choose to sit outside on the balcony to enjoy the overcast weather and grey clouds that hover above us. I order the Eggs Benedict which has sauteed spinach, ham, home made hollandaise sauce and a poached egg all on an english muffin. Sadly my egg was a little over cooked but nonetheless the dish itself tasted just the way it should. The hollandaise was rich and creamy but not sickening, and paired well with the salty ham.

HARVest Cafe - Roast field mushrooms on sourdough toast with fresh goats cheese and hazelnut pesto

Roast field mushrooms served on sourdough toast with fresh goats cheese $14

A friend of mine gets the roasted mushrooms on toast. Simple you may think but sometimes simple is best. The mushroom was grilled beautifully. It had a char-grilled flavour but yet the inside of the mushroom was still juicy and oozing with liquid. The fresh goats cheese and roast hazelnut pesto worked like a treat as it gave the overall dish several textures and a difference in flavours.

It was a quick trip to this cafe but a great feed. I have great intentions to return to try out their lunch menu which is rather extensive and very affordable for that matter (seems like it’s all under $20 per dish). HARVest Cafe do do dinners but only on the last Saturday of each month and bookings are required.

A brunch near Cabbra with an extensive menu? Sounds and looks like a great find!

I guess in Cabramatta there’s plenty of Yum Cha but not to much English brunch. I love the eggs benedict – my favourite thing to order when out for breakfast. It looks like a great place to go for a Sunday breakfast xx

I know what you mean. I live on the west in Melbourne and find it abit pressed to find a decnt brekkiie place. But over the last few years, there has been an increase in some amazing cafes which is great to see.

I love the idea of the mushroom on toast! I spent most of my life convinced that I hated mushrooms, but have recently discovered the error of my ways! Now, I’m a mushroom fiend and I can’t get enough! Looks like a great brunch.

What a lovely spot for breakfast. The field mushrooms look and sound delish – esp paired with goats cheese. Yum!

The first sentence of this post. SO TRUE. I’m so glad that you’ve found a really gorgeous place in the ‘burbs! The eggs benedict look super amazing.
