I am absolutely guilty of celebrating Valentine’s Day more that once this year despite not being one to need a day on the calendar to tell my favourite boy that he is in fact my favourite. Yes we did eat at Mad Cow which was organised by the boy but we simply used Valentine’s Day day as another excuse to dine out and try a place that we’ve been wanting to try out for a long, long time haha =D so, hello to some Malaysian food at Temasek.
We arrive before 6 in this not so obvious alleyway without a booking (I had tried calling earlier that day but it just rang out multiple times) and to our shock there were no tables available. We didn’t really think of an alternative place to eat as we were certain Temasek would not be packed on Valentine’s Day lol. Luckily, however, the waiters bring out a dusty old table and place it out in the walk way - I don’t know if it was legal but we sure weren’t complaining. 1. We got a table, and 2. It was a stinking hot day so we were glad to be eating outdoors.
Chicken Curry (Spicy)
I must admit I am so used to the Vietnamese curry where you have it with vermicelli and dip banh mi in any excess curry soup. I suppose it is quite similar when eating it with roti (pictured below). I love how the flakey pastry helps absorb the sauce of the curry and can withstand the weight from a little bit of the chicken. Gobble Gobble. In all honesty though, that curry was pretty darn spicy. It was hilarious to see the boy sitting there sweating out bucket loads whilst trying to eat (he does not have the biggest tolerance for chilli but hats off to him for trying to impress me lol).
Roti (A minimum order of two must be ordered)
Nasi Goreng
Now, THIS is what we came to Temasek for. My brother and his friends rave on about this nasi goreng like no tomorrow. I did have it once, but many years ago so couldn’t really remember what it tasted like, and back then I thought any chilli was chilli. Over the years, my tolerance for chilli has just increased exponentially (its beyond crazy) so I was giddy about trying it again. OHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYY! It really is the best tasting fried rice you will ever have. Okay, yes, as the picture shows, the egg is way too overcooked and not at all sunny side up. Aside from that, wowsers. I’ve never known rice to be so full of flavour, spicy and be so addictive. You have to try this guys, like HAVE to!
Iced Tea
To cool us down from all the spice we order some iced teas. It came out in a slushee form – weird but I thought it was perfect for the weather. It was super sweet almost like a concentrated sugar syrup; it was way too sweet for the boy to even drink half. I found it refreshing because of the ice so I finished mine.

Chicken Laksa
Just when we thought the spice was going to end out comes another dish. You’re probably wondering why we ordered 3 mains between the 2 of us? I’ll tell you why – my boyfriend is a pig, a fatty pig. When we were putting in our order, the waiter gave us this funny look and told us that it was way too much food. The boy insisted on getting all 3. He sure paid for it after, the poor boy looked so sick from over eating.
Anyway, so Temasek’s laksa is actually very good. It’s soup is a little bit thicker than what I’ve had before but I thought it had all the right flavours. You get a very decent serving for the price that you pay.
I’m no expert on Malaysian food but we sure were happy with what we were served here at Temasek. The boy would have probably enjoyed it more had everything not been so chilli haha but hey, chilli is good and I personally think it makes everything tastes that much better!

where is the black squid?
Still at the shop.. There was no way we could eat any more.
Nothing wrong with being a fat piggy! LOL. Love Temasek…
Hahaha of course not but the boy was sooooo greedy. He felt so sick afterwards lol
Temasek’s Nasi Goreng is my favourite too! Also, their laksa rockz!
Hehe we always over order too! But we take stuff home too if we can’t finish it (although hubby can eat an enormous amount). Yay to multiple V Day celebrations! :D
the laksa looks great! Add that to my list when I’m up in Sydney next month!
I love Malaysian food and this does look very good but yes, three main courses for the two of you must have been a lot of food. I hope you were able to take the leftovers home in a doggy bag!
my friends rave about this place! It’s not too far away I’m surprised I haven’t ventured to find it
I still have yet to try this place, but the nasi goreng looks amazing! It’s a matter of convincing the other half to drag his arse to parra, lol.
So far away…. If I head that way, I have to remember to try the laksa
wow! The food looks so good! Need to add to my list for the next time I visit Sydney!
